Empowering Our Community with the Knowledge to Create a Better Future for Animals
At SPCA Newfoundland & Labrador, we are dedicated to improving the lives of animals through education, advocacy, and responsible pet ownership. Our mission is to provide leadership, resources, and support to ensure every animal is treated with respect, love, and well-being.
Communities where animals thrive with respect, love, and well-being.
We shelter and care for animals in need, prevent cruelty, and promote responsible pet ownership.
We believe that each animal possesses intrinsic value, remarkable complexity, and inherent dignity, and as such, is deserving of respect and moral concern.
We use the Five Freedoms to guide animal welfare decisions:
We are open, honest, and transparent in our relationships with our staff, volunteers, members, donors, and the public.
We treat each other and those we serve, including the animals, with integrity, respect, and compassionate caring.
Animal welfare is not solely the responsibility of SPCA NL. It is also a matter of individual, community, and government responsibility.
We are committed to working with these partners, through educational and other initiatives, to promote greater responsibility for animal welfare.
We work collaboratively and cooperatively with stakeholders based on the premise that we have greater impact creating positive change by working together.
We support and promote professional leadership that recognizes the importance of continuous improvement and innovation in securing lasting change.
We are accountable to deserve the trust of those we serve. We measure, track and report regularly on what we have achieved as well as on what we have not.
We respect the privacy of all interactions with all stakeholders.
